Weekend Wanderings Nov 30-Dec 2, 2012

some glittery party favors for todays’ workshop!

Hello Friends!!!  And Happy Friday!!!  I have to tell you I really don’t know much that is going on this weekend.  What’s everyone doing???  Please feel free to email me your events that you would like for me to showcase.  amusingprovincial@yahoo.com

The one event I do know about is today’s Grand Opening for Sweet Wishes Cakery in Savannah, MO!  This adorable PINK! shoppe is full of delicious goodies and even has a room for parties I have heard!  If you are in the area be sure and check it out!

I have been looking forward to this particular day for quite some time.  I have long been a fan of Raised In Cotton.  When we were planning The Gathering and I knew I wanted a speaker I somehow mustered up the courage to ask one of the masterminds behind this inspiring store to be apart of the event.  Lo and behold the generous and lovely lady said YES!  I have come to find Miss Carol Spinski to be a true inspiration as a person as well as a business woman.  She has once again offered an amazing opportunity that I am so blessed to be apart of:  Her Shine Workshop.  This day is full of amazing women sharing their creative talents and how to implement them in your business.  I will have lots of nuggets of wisdom to share with you later.  I cannot wait to meet Debbie of A Curious Sofa….yet another business I have long admired!  And Karla Nathan is the lovely woman who posted on her blog about The Gathering as well as donated some amazing prizes.  And I haven’t even met her in person yet!  Still another truly generous spirit is Amy Barickman who will be sharing and once again contributed to The Gathering without even having met me.  These woman are my mentors whom I aspire to be more like.  They are beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

This one day event was up on Facebook for only one day I believe because only 15 spots were available.  My beautiful sister in law and friend, April, purchased the event ticket for me as part of my birthday present!  I can hardly wait to spend the day with her and my friend Sheila!  Both of these woman are my go to creative gurus who encourage me to not give up on my dreams and to keep trekking down this creative path that we all love and share.  They are truly amazing women who manage to be awesome moms, wives and work full time and still create the most amazing art as well as put up with my constant ramblings and crazy ideas.  I love them!!!

There are so many other amazing women in our little area who are creative genuises that I admire and love and are truly good people.  That is the dominant characteristic of people I have met on this creative journey.  They are genuine and quick to help, inspire and encourage.  I hope that I can be those things to you my friend.  Thanks for walking beside me along the way.

Weekend Wanderings November 23-25, 2012

I am sure most of you are spending the weekend with family celebrating Thanksgiving.  I know that I have so very much to be thankful for this year.

And others of you will be decking your home with holiday garlands.

And some of you will be braving the stores for some retail therapy and bargains.

I have been working on some party favors for a little workshop I am attending at the end of the month.  As well as painting a few canvases for my booth.  I am also refereeing (as in the black and white whistle kind) the 3 boys as we are home all weekend.  I plan on loving on all of my nieces and nephews. The ones that are still young enough to let me do that.  My three older beauties are old enough to chat about fashion and music with me which I love!  And if it warms up above freezing (my thermostat says it’s 27 out right now!) then maybe I can talk Aaron into helping me trim some hooves.  Why oh why didn’t we do that yesterday when it was 72!!!!????!!!!  Crazy Missouri weather!

Here is a great event I would love to try and make if we need some road trip action.  I met one of the artists who will be featured this fall at The Gathering.  You know I love to support local artists.  Julie will be at The Crafty Chicks Sale in Liberty, MO this Saturday.

Also Kat & Company & The Rusty Chandelier are having some great sales as well!  Thank you for your continued support.

Be safe out there and Count Your Blessings!

Dirt Road Diva

Yes there are some days when the drive home is L O N G !!!

There are some days when you really wish you weren’t following a C O M B I N E !!!

And there are some days you get just a wee bit embarrassed of always walking out to the D I R T Y car in the parking lot.

But then there are the days you smell that A L F A L F A  the minute you turn on our road.

Or you are forced to take the time to watch a doe and her fawn cross the road.  And you are glad.

Back in the day we used to take Sunday drives.  When gas was relatively cheap of course.  We always drove

H U N D R E D S of miles on vacation rather than flying.  And not just to save money.  To savor the time.

Country life is a   S L O W    P A C E.  And I love it.

I want more T I M E to sit and R E A D and D O O D L E and D R E A M.

Are there any other   D I R T   R O A D    D I V A S  out there?

Weekend Wanderings Nov 16-18, 2012

How do the days keep passing so quickly?  It does not seem like it should be the weekend again already.  I am really hoping to get my tree up this weekend.

One of my first Junkin Road Trips was to the 1st Junk Jubilee!  We had a great time!  Now you can visit this great stop in Des Moines for your holiday shopping.  Be sure and tell the ladies that The Gathering Gals sent you!

Blue Luna & I will be set up in Maryville on Sunday at The Holiday Hunt.  For only $1 or a canned food you can get in to shop local artists at a unique venue called The Hangar.  Come and see us from 11-5.  You don’t want to miss out on our fun finds perfect for stuffing those stockings!

Don’t forget to check out my booth at Kat & Company or The Rusty Chandelier.

I believe it’s the Red Apron sale this weekend.  And the kids activities will keep me hopping.  What are you doing?

O Christmas Tree

Brrr!!!  It sure is cold out!!!  Went to check the rain gauge and it was busted from frozen water!  We are as ready for winter as we can get around here.  Plenty of hay in the barn and heaters for the animals’ water.

I had so much fun making these Mustache Mugs

I have both of my booths decked in holiday glam and had a fabulous time at the SugarPlum Festival.  I have one final holiday show this Sunday then I’m ready to decorate my own house for Christmas.

Creating these simple totes was addictive!

My tree is adorned with bronze and copper and I just love it!  At one time I had 3 trees in the house and I may have to do that again next year.  All of these photos are screaming my name!

I love this tree from Trendy Tree. Com

And this simple, old fashioned tree is lovely as well.

This vintage tree is glorious!

Fun Photos

The Pioneer Woman!!!

That’s right!!!  I got to meet THE Pioneer Woman this weekend!!!  Our visit wasn’t long enough but I am thrilled to have met her!  She was in nearby KC for a book signing and gave a fun little speech/slideshow about her journey through Blogdom.  She even serenaded her dog Charlie for us!  She was just as funny and sweet and beautiful in person as in her blog/books/tv show.  Two of my boys and my awesome mother in law waited to see her for 5 1/2 hours!!!  After shopping all morning!  What can I say?  It was a once in a lifetime opportunity!  The boys were great and we enjoyed walking around The Plaza while we waited for our chance to get our books signed.

My camera had been missing and my computer had been broken so I’m happy to have both of these MUST HAVEs again.  Here are some fun photos of all we’ve been up to.  Hope you’ve been doing great and see you SOON!

The boys ready to get baptized. Proud Mama moment. Their Daddy did the honors.

Happy Weekend!!!  Hope your week was wonderful!  November is upon us and the holiday season is officially here!  Which means there are lots of fun shopping opportunities.

First Fridays at Bottoms Up Antique Market is this weekend.  There are TONS of stores and vendors to shop there!   And all local!!

Friday evening at the Remington Nature Center in St Joe from 4-8 will have a Halloween Bash. My boys just love this place and there prices are extremely reasonable.

One last fun show is being held at the Civic Arena in St Joe on Saturday & Sunday called The Holiday Mart.
