Savoring the Moment and Learning Along The Way

I love baby steps!!!  I love when I can see progress from baby steps!!!  Whether it’s physical, financial or spiritual.  Whether it’s for my business, my relationships or my home, baby steps work!!!  I also love knowledge and I’m so excited to be combining the two to make improvements in all areas of my life.  I have really been trying to SAVOR each moment and make the most of it.  This includes actually making time for people and for LEARNING.

I am using these strategies to live healthier and to grow my business.  To act more responsibly and to be a better person.  Some of the ways I am doing that are by taking a photography class and a business class.  By exploring more options for my business and listening to books while in the car.

These small baby steps are working great with my family too.  I see them inspired by my self accountability (they haven’t said so but I’m sure they are!).  I see them setting goals too.  One of my boys who usually dislikes sports of any kind has asked to play basketball.  I signed him up before he could change his mind.  Since his attention span is short we take turns playing coach and do small drills for about 30 minutes each day.  That’s it.  We are having so much fun he doesn’t realize it’s work.  Another son was feeling overwhelmed with school work so 30 minutes a day we are all doing study work together and we don’t feel stressed when test day comes and we are thrilled to get that 104%.  Yes mama was thrilled too and I learned along the way!!  Even when it comes to cleaning the house by tackling, together, one room, then being done for a while it’s not that big of a chore.  And we are spending less time in front of the tv.  Yea!

This week I’m inspired to extend some of my goals.  I’m ready to read up, meet up, show up each day and SAVOR it and LEARN from it.  Taking the extra 5 minutes to make hot tea and light a candle makes bath time that much more relaxing.  Playing Just Dance with your family keeps you all healthy and combines family fun time.  Listening to whatever motivates you while you drive or exercise encourages you and maybe even your kiddos may hear something that encourages them too.

That’s what this blog is all about for me.  I am so not perfect and have oh so much to work on in my life.  Yet I long to find inspiration and dole it out and encourage you all.  Because together we can make anything possible!

All In A Row

I have this little Pinterest board…..perhaps maybe a few Pinterest boards….that is there for days like today.  I am talking about my “All In A Row” board.  You see I have had a very crazy beginning to the New Year.  One that confirms the summons that January beckons.  I need to purge.  Get more organized.  I am a fairly organized person.  I don’t have a lot of room for extra stuff.  And if you ask my kiddos teachers I am constantly throwing away papers I may or may not have been supposed to keep.

One chaotic Monday morning this month there was a divine intervention I truly believe.  It had been a hard week.  Actually 2012 was a hard year.  But anyways that week had been really tough.  The weekend tougher.  And Monday morning.  Someone was out to get me.  I probably don’t talk enough about my spiritual life.  I’m not the preachy type.  But boy oh boy.  I have no doubt that my Sweet Jesus sent a crew of angels to protect me that day.  Listen to this song by Rodney Atkins if you haven’t before.  I was going through Hell.  But I wasn’t going to stop there. I kept going, praying and believing that God would get me through.  And He did.  And I believe it’s because of Him I am still alive.  I won’t tell you the details and some of you that know some of them might think I’m exaggerating; but I’m convinced.  So…. very long story put very shortly, the last attempt to my destruction ended in my car being totaled (after we all safely evacutated the building we were in when it happened, someone had hit my parked car which hit the building and the gas line. I told you!).  Yes, the lovely minivan that I carted my children around. My livestock.  The one that once lost it’s steering wheel while I was driving.  Good times.  I actually did love that van.  One of the reasons is that it was paid for.  Which brings me to my need to get organized.  I couldn’t find the title anywhere!  I could find every other paper from the van; even receipts from oil changes!  So this week I re ordered the title and am organizing all of our important documents.  I love this photo and instructions can be found by clicking on it.

I don’t plan on stopping there.  I NEED to organize my pantry and mud room as well.  Here are my inspiration photos for those.  If you find any vintage lockers like these.  Call me.  Please!

Click on the fridge photo for this ladies awesome organization tips.

Well gals.  I have lots and lots of work to do.  Do you have any organizing tips to share?  I’d love to hear them!  Oh and thanks for listening!

What’s Your Word?

I have been struggling what I wanted my first post of 2013 to be about.  It seems my life has had a lot of that lately….tossing….turning…thinking….analyzing…..too much of it!  I was asked recently what I wanted my “word” for 2013 to be and I have chosen:  BALANCE.

I am a very diverse person.  I love SO many aspects of life.  If you look around my home or even on my iTunes playlist you will see that I love diversity.  I actually like that about myself.  I love details whether it’s in adding up reciepts and making sure my ducks are in a row or adding sequins to a scarf or an accessory to my outift.  I love to read fun, romantic novels and I love to hone in on factual books on business.  I feel blessed that I truly enjoy so many aspects of life.

One thing I discovered about myself over this long holiday break (lots of snow days, sick days and holidays) is how good BALANCE is for me.  Even, routine, with scheduled time for….nothing!  I saw this on Pinterest just today and I love it!

With all of my free time I was busy at first of course prepping for the holidays.  Then they came and so many people were sick that it didn’t even feel like Christmas.  I was able to enjoy the luxuries of fine chocolates and reading (I love this new book I received as a gift), time to create and paint and craft, time spent with my boys and their new toys.  Time visiting people and connecting.  It was wonderful!  Then there were days when I was home and saw all the things I didn’t like or got just plain OVER my phone!!!  I mean I seriously did not want to look at it again for at least one whole day!  haha!  That sounds terrible but it’s true!  I set out the next day and bought new paint for the kitchen at Lowe’s and crossword puzzles at Target.

So this year I am going to really try to EMBRACE my geeky side of making goals and planning things out months in advance as well as REIGN IN my side of “I’m not making anyone dinner this weekend until I finish this book or paint this canvas or crochet this blanket.”  Yes.  I’ve done all of the above.  I’m just training my boys to make good husbands by learning to do things themselves.  haha.

Yep.  This year I will strive for BALANCE.  To take time to REDISCOVER why I love my farmy lifestyle and why I started this blog and call my girlfriends and make lunch plans.  And really try to live in each MOMENT an authentic life.  To have no regrets.

What’s your word?
