Weekend Wanderings November 2-4, 2012

Happy Weekend!!!  Hope your week was wonderful!  November is upon us and the holiday season is officially here!  Which means there are lots of fun shopping opportunities.

First Fridays at Bottoms Up Antique Market is this weekend.  There are TONS of stores and vendors to shop there!   And all local!!

Friday evening at the Remington Nature Center in St Joe from 4-8 will have a Halloween Bash. My boys just love this place and there prices are extremely reasonable.

Saturday there is a great vendor show featuring lots of local artists like my lovely sister in law from Blue Luna Designs.  The show is to benefit Mid Buchanan PTO.

One last fun show is being held at the Civic Arena in St Joe on Saturday & Sunday called The Holiday Mart.

With so many choices what will you do this weekend?

Here’s a sneak peak at where us Gathering Gals will be next weekend!!!  Come & see us!!

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like….

Hello Friends!   I am slighlty off my blogging schedule thanks to computer issues.  Boo.  It’s crazy how dependent we can become on technology.

We’ve been doing the Busy thing again.  Sport practices.  Working.  Creating.  Holidays.  So many blessings and things to be thankful for.  I am way behind this year.  Usually I am DONE shopping by November!!! This year I only have 1 gift purchased so far.  I hope to change that today and get a lot done.  With lots to juggle somehow my holiday shopping fell through my hands. I’m excited to get back on track today and also come up with my holiday calendar.

My booth at The Rusty Chandelier filled with holiday goodies!

I love to make a list of all of the fun activities we do as a family and schedule those in on my special holiday calendar.  I had purchased it from Hallmark a few years ago but basically it’s just a blank calendar of November & December dedicated to festive events.

Some of the things we do annually is of course watch Christmas movies with popcorn and pizza.  I try to schedule those on Friday evenings.  Hot cocoa is a must with lots of whipped cream!

I think we’ll try this idea for the kids this year

There is the finding the real tree and of course the decorating.  Wrapping presents and driving around to see all of the holiday lights.  My mom & sisters & I get together with our kiddos for a special holiday party early on in the season for baking as well as crafts and fun for the kids.  On my husbands side we always make gingerbread houses.  This year we have a grandma coming in from California for the holidays so it will be extra special.  Another grandma and I go shopping together every year.  There are so many fun ways to make the season merry & bright.  What are some of your holiday traditions?

I am excited to get started and to hear from you for fresh ideas to add magic to Christmas!

Head Out On The Highway

You all know I love a good road trip!!!  My Junkin’ Travels would take me clear across the Midwest if my hubby would let me!!  My boys have learned to love the art of treasure hunting with no choice of their own!!!

I have put together a little Road Trip Love for all you Dirt Road Dreamers & Gravel Travelers that just so happens to coincde with our lovely little event; The Gathering.  So don’t say it’s too far away. Make a weekend of it. And if you grab a couple of girlfriends you can split the cost of gas and hotel.

Hotel you say?  Why yes I did.  St Joseph is one of the few towns in the Midwest that boasts the home of Stoney Creek Inn.  My family & I love this sweet spot not only for the rustic decor & indoor pool but it’s friendliness of the staff and cleanliness.  And it’s got great rates.  In fact!!!!  If you mention The Gathering you can score a room for under $100!!!  For just $99 buckaroos you can enjoy a lovely room.  Give Shawn a call at (816) 901.9600 * 1.800.659.2220.

Now we know that you’re coming to The Gathering on Saturday September 29 between 9-5 (since you’re probably taking a class you’ll be here all day loves!!!) but on your way over you’ll want to stop by the Trash To Treasure Flea Market that opens up at 8 a.m. and supports our local museums which I happen to LOVE.  You will find this event at 3406 Frederick Avenue.

Rewind to Thursday evening & Friday September 28.   One of my favorite shoppes, Artistic Works by Lu, is hosting a fabulous soiree.  Lu’s “Autumn Affair” is September 27 from 4-8 p.m. with a debut of her fall jewelry line and chic fashion trends. You don’t want to miss this event and all of the charming shops in downtown Leavenworth like The Candle Queen Boutique.  On Friday swing by Weston, MO (all about 30 minutes from Saint Joseph), Parkville, MO and Platte City, MO for even more unique shopping.  Saint Joseph also boasts great shopping that will be represented at The Gathering like Chic Boutique, Kat & Co & The Rusty Chandelier.  Savannah, MO (another stone’s throw away) has sweet stores like Heavenly Treasures & the Ivy Cottage.  No shortage of goodies to purchase ladies.

After your awesome day on Saturday at The Gathering….Sunday morning you’re ready to go home but not before you hit the Antique Stores along 36 Highway and in Cameron, MO.  Right outside of Cameron in a rural community called Hamilton you will find the Barn Gypsy sale which you do not want to miss.

Shop Til You Drop is what gals do best and this is one weekend you can do just that!!!

My Rusty ReDeux

Blue Luna Designs taught our Stamped Jewelry class last night

Here’s a quick peek at last night’s Stamped Jewelry Class.  I love my biz Rusty ReDeux!  It is so fun to meet with other ladies and get crafty!!!  Every class is a completely different subject.  I love to support local businesses and artists by showcasing them each month.  It is always a good time!!!  I’d love to hear in the comments below of any classes you’d like to take.

The class schedule is listed on our Facebook page under Rusty ReDeux and then under Events.  Each class fee includes supplies, refreshments and a party favor.  Plus a good time!!!  The classes are held upstairs at the Rusty Chandelier so there is also great shopping available!!
