The Gathering

Bring In Spring By Shopping!

Most of you know that my lovely sister in law and I share a space in the West Bottoms at a sweet shoppe called Brocante Bliss.  We really love to bring our ‘JUNK’ together and make a beautiful space.  If you have not been down to Kansas City to check out these amazing shoppes, which are only open once a month (first Friday, Saturday and Sunday) then you really are missing out.

Also later in the month you can find us at the amazing Fleeting Flea show in Overland Park.  We will be set up there on March 21-23.  This is another one of a kind event featuring local artists..

Later in the year we will be selling in Atchison and Illinois!  We are thrilled to have been included in the wildly famous Nada Farm Sale! If you read any of the Where Women (create/cook/business) Magazines then you are very familiar with the amazing Anne Marie.  I am truly honored to be apart of the show.

And plans have begun for the next Gathering!  So mark your calendars for our local show on Saturday September 28.  We are very excited for what the future holds for this event of ours.

After Christmas Fun

I have had so much fun this week working on little projects.  I am anxiously awaiting a shipment of some new fragrances to make some amazing new candles and tarts.  Today I ordered some fun notions from one of my favorite shops:  The Speckled Egg.  Heather was an amazing supporter of The Gathering and I love participating in her swaps.  She has a sale going on now so please take the time to check out her shop.

I love to paint but usually don’t have the time to indulge so I have enjoyed this time for creativity this week.  With January fast approaching I have WINGS and CLOCKS on my mind.  Here are a few sneak peaks.  For the final reveal come see me at Brocante Bliss January 4-6.

Feathers + Glitter + Rhinestones = A touch of heaven

This image will be featured in a BIG way in the new space at Brocante Bliss

Wings are so signifcant to me and just the touch of security I need.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and that all of your holiday wishes came true.  I have been enjoying lots of hot beverages and playing loads of games with the kiddos.  It has truly been a sacred time of year for us as we counted our blessings, remembered loved ones and celebrated the birth of our Savior.  Praying 2013 blesses your socks off!!

Weekend Wanderings November 23-25, 2012

I am sure most of you are spending the weekend with family celebrating Thanksgiving.  I know that I have so very much to be thankful for this year.

And others of you will be decking your home with holiday garlands.

And some of you will be braving the stores for some retail therapy and bargains.

I have been working on some party favors for a little workshop I am attending at the end of the month.  As well as painting a few canvases for my booth.  I am also refereeing (as in the black and white whistle kind) the 3 boys as we are home all weekend.  I plan on loving on all of my nieces and nephews. The ones that are still young enough to let me do that.  My three older beauties are old enough to chat about fashion and music with me which I love!  And if it warms up above freezing (my thermostat says it’s 27 out right now!) then maybe I can talk Aaron into helping me trim some hooves.  Why oh why didn’t we do that yesterday when it was 72!!!!????!!!!  Crazy Missouri weather!

Here is a great event I would love to try and make if we need some road trip action.  I met one of the artists who will be featured this fall at The Gathering.  You know I love to support local artists.  Julie will be at The Crafty Chicks Sale in Liberty, MO this Saturday.

Also Kat & Company & The Rusty Chandelier are having some great sales as well!  Thank you for your continued support.

Be safe out there and Count Your Blessings!

My 1 Year Blog Anniversary!

I missed it!!!  I missed the anniversary of my first year of blogging!!!

After embarking on the wild world of hobby farming in 2010, with the introduction of milking goats in August of 2011, I started my original blog on September 3, 2011!!!  I would never have believed all of the wonderful things that were going to happen in the year to come.  Writing for Parisienne Farmgirl Magazine and meeting her!  Planning & co-hosting an amazing event; The Gathering!  Adding my soy candle line to my Fresh From the Farm Series.  Wow!  I have been blessed!  And I am so excited to see what God has in store for the next year!  Thank you so very much for reading, I am truly honored!  I would love to hear from you and if you are a fellow blogger leave a link’ I would love to read your blog!!

Here you will find my very first entry (I was so nervous!!!) it was fun to go back and read all of my blogspot posts and I hope you will link over and read them too.  Thanks to my wonderful cousin Nate for my new WordPress design and .com which I love!

Sept 3, 2011

My name is Jennifer Morris and I need a steady diet of faith, farm & fancy!!!  My passions for healthy eating and all things French & Fabulous led me on a journey that has brought me closer to God, given me the motivation to embrace the all-natural, organic movement creatively and make it look cute while doing so!  Inspired by open air French markets, rustic estates and God’s own handiwork in it’s purest form I’ve created a haven on our farm.  Pastel-hued eggs, dripping honeycombs, fresh milk &  heirloom vegetables are a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.  I hope you’ll enjoy following my blog about the benefits of life on the farm.

Thank You!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to The  Gathering this past weekend!  It was a fabulous time!!!  I was a little star struck by all of my favorite vendors, artists, teachers, media and you!!!  Yes all of you lovely people who came to support April & I’s little dream.  Thank you!!!  We had over 100 shoppers and countless friends, family and vendors.

The farm has survived without me as hubby & the boys stepped in to take over chores.  The cows were happy to see me and the eggs actually might get brought into the house rather than chucked by the boys this week. The house however is still getting some much needed attention.  Life goes on and so I am making candles for this weekends Apple Fest in Weston.  It will be a great time…I hope to see some of you there.  Make sure you check back often to see where La Ferme will be….there are many more exciting events coming up!

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!  I am overwhelmed by your support.  Farm Hugs, Jennifer

Today is the day!!!  I have wanted to post photos so badly of all of the goodies we’ve created and decorations and vendors booths.  But really a photo cannot do it all justice.  It is like a dream come true with all of my favorite people, ‘shops’ and goodies.  I feel like it’s my birthday!!!  In fact one of my friends is having a birthday today and is still vending for me!!!  Happy Birthday Sara!!!

Speaking of friends I have met an amazing lady through the blog world.  Angela Reed from Parisienne Farmgirl.  What a blessing she is!!!  I am guest posting about The Gathering on her blog today.  Please click here to read.

I am so thankful for every single one of you who read my blog and who encourage me.  For those of you who have prayed for this day, helped with trips to Walmart or stayed up late sewing for me or stuffing goodie bags or watching my boys.  Thank you!!!!  I love you all!!!

Head Out On The Highway

You all know I love a good road trip!!!  My Junkin’ Travels would take me clear across the Midwest if my hubby would let me!!  My boys have learned to love the art of treasure hunting with no choice of their own!!!

I have put together a little Road Trip Love for all you Dirt Road Dreamers & Gravel Travelers that just so happens to coincde with our lovely little event; The Gathering.  So don’t say it’s too far away. Make a weekend of it. And if you grab a couple of girlfriends you can split the cost of gas and hotel.

Hotel you say?  Why yes I did.  St Joseph is one of the few towns in the Midwest that boasts the home of Stoney Creek Inn.  My family & I love this sweet spot not only for the rustic decor & indoor pool but it’s friendliness of the staff and cleanliness.  And it’s got great rates.  In fact!!!!  If you mention The Gathering you can score a room for under $100!!!  For just $99 buckaroos you can enjoy a lovely room.  Give Shawn a call at (816) 901.9600 * 1.800.659.2220.

Now we know that you’re coming to The Gathering on Saturday September 29 between 9-5 (since you’re probably taking a class you’ll be here all day loves!!!) but on your way over you’ll want to stop by the Trash To Treasure Flea Market that opens up at 8 a.m. and supports our local museums which I happen to LOVE.  You will find this event at 3406 Frederick Avenue.

Rewind to Thursday evening & Friday September 28.   One of my favorite shoppes, Artistic Works by Lu, is hosting a fabulous soiree.  Lu’s “Autumn Affair” is September 27 from 4-8 p.m. with a debut of her fall jewelry line and chic fashion trends. You don’t want to miss this event and all of the charming shops in downtown Leavenworth like The Candle Queen Boutique.  On Friday swing by Weston, MO (all about 30 minutes from Saint Joseph), Parkville, MO and Platte City, MO for even more unique shopping.  Saint Joseph also boasts great shopping that will be represented at The Gathering like Chic Boutique, Kat & Co & The Rusty Chandelier.  Savannah, MO (another stone’s throw away) has sweet stores like Heavenly Treasures & the Ivy Cottage.  No shortage of goodies to purchase ladies.

After your awesome day on Saturday at The Gathering….Sunday morning you’re ready to go home but not before you hit the Antique Stores along 36 Highway and in Cameron, MO.  Right outside of Cameron in a rural community called Hamilton you will find the Barn Gypsy sale which you do not want to miss.

Shop Til You Drop is what gals do best and this is one weekend you can do just that!!!

Down on the Farm

I had a date with my pruners today.  It was long overdue.  The cooler temperatures have allowed me to get back outside and get some work done around the farm.  Unfortunately we have had some disappointments.  Like the huge increase in chicken feed prices.  The death of 3 Turkeys in 1 week (long, gruesome story…ugh!) and 1 chicken.  The realization that Miss T is not pregnant just a healthy, voluptuous goat.  On a happier note the weeds have never looked hardier and the rain gauge is still empty!!!  (forced smile).

Really I am very blessed; we have enough hay & water for the winter to come and that in itself is reason to celebrate after this long summer.  Some of my plants are still alive and the okra & eggplant are still producing!  We planted some extra wheat seed & extra large beets in hopes of rain that may possibly come through (please Lord!) which will be like exotic sushi & chocolate for the cows & goats to munch on this winter.

The boys have started back to school and in between my random bouts of teary nostalgia (like on the phone with my mother in law at the grocery store) I have survived.  The house looks messier than usual as I am trying to ‘deep clean’ & purge without interruption.  Candles have been poured (Cherry Almond, Farmhouse Cider, Hot Apple Pie….the house smells amazing!) and on one day I let myself take a lunch break in front of the tv and watched Junk Gypsies.  At that moment there were tears of joy.

one of our friends; Joyce!

Blue Luna & I just wrapped up a weekend of fun at Trails West where we received a blue ribbon for best booth in the craft division.  We had not even known there was a contest and neither one of us had ever received a blue ribbon before so it was very exciting!  I have the ribbon at the moment and April gets to keep it on holidays and every other weekend.  It was a successful show and we were so happy to get to visit with some of you and share our passion for candles, jewelry, decorating and crafty goodness like The Gathering.

The Gathering.  We have been scheming and molding this little baby and I have to say I am sad that it is almost here because I don’t want it to grow up and move on just yet.  It has been the most fun and we have met the most amazing people through all of the planning and I kinda think I’ll be meeting more of you fabulous ladies that day!  Be prepared to have loads of fun is all I can say!!!

If you’re out and about tomorrow go see HomeGrown Junk she is having an awesome sale and I’m trying really hard to convince myself I don’t need to drive 3 hours to go to it……….Also the Rusty Chandelier in St Joe is having a fun Pop Up Flea Market tomorrow….stop by our booth downstairs and look at our goodies.  Oh & if you haven’t signed up for a class at The Gathering or emailed me to participate in the Building Your Bliss Swap please do so I’d love to have you!!!

Junk Hugs,
